Exhibitions of Impact: Introducing the Special Issue

The Exhibitions of Impact (EOI) special issue American Behavioral Scientist consists six articles from authors in communication studies and rhetoric, public health, medicine bioethics, memory studies, art therapy. Each article profiles some exhibition or memorial related to a pressing social issue, including gun violence, racist terrorism, domestic religious fundamentalism, corporations selling harmful products, how society treats those regarded as cognitively behaviorally different. First, examples today’s headlines show global outcry over monuments artifacts, pandemic, which casts doubt on the future exhibitions. Historical explanatory concepts are introduced, with focus exhibitions suggestions commands, brazenly more indirect ways. A look at medical health exhibits makes explicit try get us do something while being informative. While summaries each topics diverse, racism inequities emerge underlying themes. After considering performative exhibits, there is call for bioethically informed capable navigating wide variety out there, able express allyship troubleshooting urgent problems.
